Despite growing up with a background in classical music, North discovered a deep passion for rock and metal in his late teens, and this has remained a lifelong love of all things dark and groovy.
Amongst North’s metal projects are three albums of progressive orchestral metal, as well as three albums of nu-metal, written to complement the novel The Broken, representing the music of the titular band.

Composed for metal group and large orchestra, Shade Under Trees of Longing represents one of North’s most ambitious projects to date: an album of songs that flow seamlessly into one, hour-long song, ranging from death metal grooves to entirely orchestral moments.

North’s first foray into orchestral metal, Despair charts the darkest emotions in a five-song suite that combines the power of both metal and orchestra.

Satis
2018
The original inspiration for North’s world of metal sounds, Satis aims to combine traditional classical symphonic form with the textures and sounds of a metal band. Inspired by Charles Dickens, the name Satis is taken from the name of Miss Havisham’s manor in the story Great Expectations, a place devoid of sunlight and filled with misery and woe.
