Contemporary Classical
North’s love of the western classical tradition stems from his exposure to the great composers at a young age, and in his current studies at Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts, he seeks to blend traditional instrumentation with his equal love of rock and metal in unique and innovative ways.
Completed works include the song cycle Through the Window for soprano and piano, and the piano trio Strange Paths, inspired by memories of wandering through woods and mountains as a child.

For Soprano and Piano

Written during the winter and spring of 2025, Through the Window represents an homage to the prog rock sounds of artists such as Anathema and Opeth, whilst lyrically drawing inspiration from the devastating emotions and feelings surrounding the world and current events of the time. Originally written for soprano Susana Leiva, it will receive its world premiere at Rutgers on November 1st, 2026.

Strange Paths
For Piano Trio

Inspired by memories and visions of places as far flung as the Swiss alps and the sweeping vistas of the Yorkshire moors, Strange Paths takes the listener on a journey through these wondrous landscapes, imagining storm clouds over alpine lakes and crooked trees looming high over country pathways into darkness.
It will receive its world premiere on November 1st, 2026.
